From Headmaster

Dear Parents,

Early Years children enjoyed a whole school trip to the Beijing Aquarium on Monday. I would like to thank all the teachers, assistant teachers and parent helpers for their hard work, and in particular Mr Astbury and Ms Goddard, for their impressive organisation. The children loved the dolphin show and exploring the coral reef exhibit, and Mr Astbury particularly enjoyed the beluga whales.

Some of our Year 13 students decided against a relaxing day at home on Saturday, and instead gave their time to help the Year 11-12 students. Workshops included, among other themes, the use of body language, public speaking skills, interview techniques, marketing of events and budgeting. The younger students were very grateful, and they themselves gave excellent group presentations at the end of the day. Well done to all involved.

The term is picking up pace and Saturday also saw presentations to parents on the subject of the IB expectations, university counselling and the Olympiad in London. Thank you to all presenters and to the large number of parents who supported their children by attending and asking incisive questions.

Our annual Moonlight Madness and Welcome Back Party took place last Friday. It was a joy to see our wonderful community coming together to watch a showcase of talent in our school; it was really impressive to witness the confidence and composure of our DCB students.

Enjoy the beautiful weather with your families this weekend.

Kind regards and have a good weekend,

Simon Herbert
