2016 Exceptional IB

Congratulations to the Class of 2016 on their remarkable IB examination results!

Students and teachers are celebrating another year of marvelous IB scores as the International Baccalaureate organisation announced its June 2016 Diploma Programme results.

This year, DCB students achieved a phenomenal 37 point average on their IB Diploma point score, far surpassing the world average of 30.

Notably, over 24% of our students scored above 40, with five pupils – Alex Chang and Erica Jin in particular – achieving marks of 44 and Samuel Kronick, Colin Sikai Mao, and Harry Sha, scoring 43.

75 students were entered for the full IB Diploma Programme and our pass rate was a stunning 100%. Unlike many IB schools around the world, we do not pre-select students for entry into the IB Diploma, but give all students the opportunity to enter this challenging programme. This year was no exception.

The LAMDA results have also been published, the results of which are incredible. ‘With a huge 79 students entered, 68 passed with Distinction. These are stunning and I thank my departmental colleagues for their dedication,’ said Ms Harison-Denby, Head of Drama.

Commenting on the great successes of the Class of 2016, Headmaster Simon Herbert said: “We always say that headline figures are impressive but it is the hard work from our teachers and focus on every individual that counts and I was delighted that three quarters of our graduating class achieved placement at their first choice university, including successful entry to eight Ivy League Universities, along with Oxford and Cambridge."

From the Head of School

Another set of outstanding IB results from DCB. I am extremely proud of the Class of 2016 and their teachers who have achieved so much academically while contributing so massively to the extra-curricular life of the school. The Class of 2016 truly deserve their superb array of university offers and I wish them all the best for the next exciting stage of their education.
